Owl festival to be held in Barpak
Gorakha Bazaar, Jan 15: An owl festival is to be held in Barpak, Gorakha district on March 6.
The festival is taking place at the Himalaya Higher Secondary School at Barpak-4 with the support of Friends of Nature, Coordinator of the Festival Organising Main Committee, Jeet Ghale, said.
"The festival is aimed at providing detailed information about the owl which is under threat and becoming rarer. We plan to raise the awareness of the locals on the need of conserving this bird," he said.
The festival will include organization of essay writing competition, art competition and elocution contest on how to save the owl. Photos and posters on its conservation would also be put on display.
Twelve ornithologists from Africa specializing in the study of owl are also expected to participate in the festival.
Barpak is an area where the owls are found in abundance, Ghale said.
