Preparation to include 'farmer pension' in budget
Kathmandu, June 4: Minister for Agriculture Development Haribol Gajurel has said that preparation is underway to include a provision of 'farmer pension' in the budget.
At an interaction programme in the capital on Saturday, Minister Gajurel said he held discussion with Prime Minister on Friday for budgetary arrangement to that end and got positive response.
He shared that the Ministry has prepared a proposal of granting pension to farmers of seven districts of seven provinces in the first phase.
He said that research is key to agriculture advancement in the country and stressed the need of using improved seeds, technology and chemical fertilizers.
He also batted for the setup of the Agriculture Commission for the development of agro sector in Nepal.
