Parliamentarians collect suggestions from farmers in Libang
Rolpa, Sept 28: A team of parliaments, comprising members of the Agriculture and Water Resources under the Legislature-Parliament, held an interaction with the local farmers in Libang, Rolpa on Tuesday.
The team of parliamentarians led by Rameshwor Dhungel are in Rolpa to collect suggestions and feedbacks from the farmers in connection to the formulation of Agriculture Act and amendment of acts and laws relating to the agriculture.
The amendment of Agriculture Act is currently under consideration. The amendment will encompass the suggestions and feedbacks from the public, said one of the visiting parliamentarians Taraman Gurung.
During the interaction, farmer Hira Ghale suggested the parliamentarians to introduce the Act that discourages the usage of chemical fertilizers. He also spoke of the need for the government to promote the usage organic fertilizers.
Similarly, another local farmer Pratham Bhandari expressed his happiness for interacting with them before amending the Agriculture Act. He insisted that the State should invest more investment for the commercialization of agriculture.
The visiting team also held interactions with local political parties, service providers as well as the civil society besides making an on-site visit to various places in the districts where they took stock of the agricultural activities being undertaken by the farmers in the district.
The team will later submit a report to the Legislature-Parliament which will offer recommendations to minimize the usage of fertilizers in food items based on the suggestions of the farmers and stakeholders, according to team leader Dungel. RSS
