Bhutanese refuges issue appeal for their repatriation to homeland
Damak, Jan 9: The National Reconciliation Committee, an organisation of Bhutanese refugees in Nepal, today has appealed to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) urging it to take initiatives for their repatriation to Bhutan.
The committee today issued a press release addressing the UNHCR for the same. The UNHCR is the UN agency for protecting the rights and well-being of refugees all over the world.
The appeal letter was signed by 33 refugees and has been sent to UNHCR office Geneva, said committee coordinator Krishna Bir Tamang.
They have further stated that they wanted to return to their home land instead of third country resettlement.
The appeal letter further reads that they were living in pathetic condition in the refugee camps for over 25 years, further complaining that the drinking water and food supply was also stopped in the camp.
