Post-quake survey starts in Khotang
Khotang, Jan 15: The long overdue post-quake survey has finally started in Khotang as part of the snail-pace reconstruction process, 20 months after the massive quakes jolted the region.
National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) engineer arrived in the district only on Saturday. The collection of the name list of the quake-stricken, verification and grant agreements have been reached at Makpa, Khidim, Patheka, Khartamcha, Chyamistar, Bahunidanda, Halesi, Durchim, Bijayakharka, Arkhaule, Salle, Batase and Kharpal among other VDCs , District Natural Disaster Relief Committee said.
A preliminary round of the post-quake reconstruction scheduled to start on December 30 had been delayed. A group of 33 engineers had arrived in Khotang on Tuesday.
The survey will be held for one and a half months which will be immediately followed by grant agreements, according to the NRA. A total of 13,333 houses in the district suffered partial and full damages during the earthquake. RSS
