Locals infuriated over local restructuring outcome
Kanchanpur, March 21: Locals here have expressed their intense dissatisfaction over what they term as 'impractical and unscientific' merger of village development committees and wards into the Rajbiraj Municipality.
On Monday, the villagers presented a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Chief District Officer (CDO).
A thousand-member 'Rajbiraj Town Demarcation Reform Struggle Committee' has been formed under the coordination of former mayor, Sailesh Chaudhary, citing that the VDCs and wards that are located in remote areas are facing existential crisis after the merger with the municipality.
"We will launch second phase of agitation if the defect is not corrected instantly," Chaudhary cautioned.
In the memorandum, the locals have complained that they were not consulted before the local restructuring was carried out, and accused the leaders and lawmakers of unilaterally mapping out the structure from Kathmandu for their electoral benefits.
CDO Krishna Bahadur Katawal received the memorandum and pledged to send it to the PM's office immediately. RSS
