Voting underway in Kalika Municipality – 11

Ratnanagar (Chitwan), May 16: Voting at the Kalika Municipality ward no 11 is underway after getting postponed following the death of a candidate in a lightning strike.

The voting commenced at 7 am as per a decision of an all – party meeting held earlier, Kalika Municipality's Election Official, Netra Prasad Sharma said.

On May 9, CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate for the Kalika Muncipality – 11 ward membership, Sifal Chepang, was killed in a lightning strike.

The voting scheduled for May 14 had been postponed due to the reason. The Maoist Centre is now fielding Suk Ram Chepang as its candidate for the same position.

A total of 14 candidates are vying for five posts in the ward where a Dalit candidate has not been registered. A total of 17,946 votes fell on May 14 elections in the Kalika Municipality. RSS
