'NC is waiting for Unified Maoist in CA'
Palpa, Feb 27: Nepali Congress General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula has said that they were waiting for the opposition parties including the Unified Maoist in the constituent assembly (CA).
He added that his party was on the side of bringing the Unified Maoist to the CA for constitution drafting process as the party was one of the signatories of the peace process.
NC leader Sitaula further said that the Unified Maoist chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal and leader Baburam Bhattarai cannot be the 'leaders of the gun' as they already have became the leaders of the peace process.
At a press meet in the district headquarters in Tansen today, leader Sitaula urged the opposition parties to come to consensus for a new constitution as it was the time for drafting the constitution and not going in protest.
He further said that the Unified Maoist should come to the CA for constitution drafting process even to institutionalize the achievements of various peoples' movements.
The Unified Maoist was brought into the mainstream politics on the basis of the Interim Constitution and under the provision of the same constitution, disputed issues of the new constitution could be resolved on consensus basis. If it fails then two-third majority could resolve it, leader Sitaula added.
He further said that the people's mandate was the most important direction therefore it should be respected by all the political parties. RSS
