Kathmandu, Nov. 20:The Nepali Congress (NC) on Sunday said that the party was prepared for the first phase elections to the House of Representatives and the provincial assemblies scheduled for November 26 in 32 mountain districts.
At a regular press meet organised by the party’s media centre, central member and central election mobilisation committee coordinator Bal Krishna Khand said the central representatives of the party had already reached the concerned districts to coordinate the elections there.
He said the new government would be formed two months after the second phase of the elections as vote counting would take time while the nomination of the candidates to be elected through the proportional representative (PR) electoral system would also require more time.
He said the incumbent government would continue for two months after the elections.
“There will be no hurry to hand over the government, everyone should show patience for the election results,” he said.
He claimed the NC had reliable information from its organisations and other independent sources that it would secure majority votes, and the next government would be formed under the leadership of the NC incorporating all democratic parties.
Khand said the elections would be held on the scheduled dates as the Election Commission has completed its preparation and the Home Ministry has also prepared the security plans.
He condemned the recent explosions which targeted the NC senior leaders and others and urged the government to create an election-friendly environment.
