Tiwari of Nepali origin files candidacy for US House
Kathmandu, March 10: Jeevan Tiwari of Nepali origin has announced his candidacy to the House of Delegates of Virginia under the Washington DC Metropolitan Area of America.
Tiwari who hails from Lekhnath Municipality-10 in Kaski district, who is currently living at North Virginia of America for the past 10 years, on Monday filed his candidacy from area no 87 for the House of Delegates from Democratic Party for 2015.
Tiwari is associated with the party since 2009 and has been working in different posts of the party in the area. There is the settlement of around 25 per cent Asian immigrants in the area.
Nepali Congress leader of Kaski and Tiwari's father Nanda Tiwari told RSS that his son had actively participated in US President Barak Obama's election publicity programme. He had also served as Treasurer of the party of the area.
Tiwari, who went to America in 2004 after getting Diversity Visa in 2004, is living in Virginia since 2005.
The primaries would be held on June 9, 2015 and the final election on November 3. Tiwari would get chance to be the candidate in the election schedule in November only if he wins the primary election.
Tiwari has raised different issues including health, housing and economic development. The Republican Party has won the election from the area twice.
