NC decides to pick leaders contributing to party for NA member
Kathmandu, Jan 20: The Nepali Congress has decided to pick the members of the National Assembly from among the leaders making significant contribution to the party.
The two-day central working committee meeting of the party concluded Friday also decided to direct its committees from the village to districts to submit their reports of the election review meetings. Similarly, the FPTP candidates of the party in the provincial and federal levels have been asked to submit written reports to the central election review committee within a month.
A press statement issued by party office secretary Dr Pradip Parajuli informed that the meeting concluded that the thee-tier election has created an opportunity to institutionalize the achievements made with rigorous struggle.
With the election, a solid basis is formed to build democratic socialist and prosperous Nepal with inclusive democracy and republic, the meeting said, adding that the elections were the milestone of democratic cultures and the significant events to implement constitution.
The meeting has also thanked the government under the leadership of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba for taking lead role in constitution's implementation by fulfilling the vital roles to complete the polls successfully.
Likewise, the NC meeting has thanked the Election Commission (EC), civil servants, officials, security bodies, political parties, media, and national and international polls observers as well as the voters for their enthusiastic participation.
The meeting also concluded that the NC-led government achieved success to bring all sides on board by resolving the disputes seen in Tarai after the constitution promulgation.
On the occasion, Prime Minister and Party President Deuba congratulated party leaders and cadres who played effective roles to end political transition.
He further opined for holding serious discussions on party's unexpected defeat in the elections.
The press statement reads that the party's mahasamiti meeting would be called soon to discuss various issues. The mahasamiti meeting will transform the party statute in line with federal structures.
President Deuba had focused on the preparations of National Assembly election slated for February.
Present in the meeting were senior leaders Ram Chandra Poudel, Prakash Man Singh, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Bimalendra Nidhi, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki including invitee member Bijay Gachchhadar.
