NEPSE down by 2.36 per cent
Kathmandu, Mar. 11: The benchmark capital market index Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined by 2.36 per cent on Sunday.
The NEPSE index opened at 1,315.13 points at morning closed at 1,284.09 points recording 31.04 points fall throughout the day.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also declined by 6.40 points ( 2.29 per cent) on Sunday.
The NEPSE index had also dropped by 30.86 points over the last week.
In line with the decline in the NEPSE index, the volume of transaction in the stock exchange remained significantly low on Sunday.
The stock exchange traded 763,591 unit shares of 160 companies worth Rs. 325,109,254 in 4,831 transactions on Sunday.
Sub-indices of all trading group recorded significant decline on today’s transaction.
Sub-indices of Insurance group posted a highest points’ fall of 243.18 points followed by hydropower, hotels and manufacturing which declined by 64.6 points, 63.52 points and 52.17 points respectively.
Similarly, microfinance, development bank, banking, others and finance group sub-indices declined by 45.52 points, 25.64 points, 23.15 points, 10.75 points and 8.68 points respectively.
Shareholders of Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, Nepal Insurance Company Limited, Laxmi Laghubitta Sanstha, Suryodaya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha and Janauthan Samudahik Bittiya Bikas Bank became top losers on Sunday’s transaction.
