New Year Gift: CFPA distributes bags to school students
Dhanusha, April 13: China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation has distributed bags to school students of two schools in the district, Shree Rastriya Prathamik School and Dhanusha Cambridge Public school, located in Fulgama village, on the border area of Nepal and India.
The bags were distributed amidst a programme here on Friday on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2075. Some 583 loving schoolbags that included a water bottle, lunch box, pencil case, ruler, pencil, color pen set, notebook and backpack were distributed to students of the two schools.
The CFPA termed the schoolbags as the New Year’s gift from Chinese people – Alipay Charity schoolbags.
Speaking on the occasion, Parmeshower Jha, mayor of Janakpur sub-metropolitan city, thanked Chinese people for sending these schoolbags to local children, which was the first batch of schoolbags from Chinese people received in this area.
He said that the colored pencils in the schoolbags represented hope. These schoolbags seem like the seeds of friendship sown in the children's hearts, and they also promote the friendly relations between Nepal and China, he said. Mayor Jha also thanked CFPA and expressed hope that the CFPA would reach similar remote places to help children for education.
Zou Zhiqiang, Country Director of Nepal Office of CFPA, described Chinese post-disaster reconstruction work in Nepal in the last three years.
She said it was the first time CFPA dispatched schoolbags at this border side area which is just 1.5 km away from Nepal and India border. "We hope to spread our love here, in this poor area as part of our contribution to poverty alleviation."
The students of the schools also performed a Nepali cultural programme particularly to guests from China as they had seen such guests for the first time.
This is the third year that the CFPA has distributed the love schoolbags in Nepal.
CFPA intends to distribute more than 10,000 schoolbags in Nepal in 2018. These bags are donated by Alipay Charity Users. A schoolbag is like a heart from a Chinese national, and it closely connects the hearts of people of two countries, said CFPA country director Zou .
She said that 2018 was the third year of CFPA in Nepal. "In the past three years, the number of beneficiaries of post-disaster reconstruction reached more than 70,000 people and spread across 14 districts in Nepal."
