Made in Pakistan Expo kicks off in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, Oct. 3: The ninth edition of Made in Pakistan Expo kicked off here at the United World Trade Center, Tripureshowr, on Wednesday.
The Pakistani products including furniture, leather items, handicrafts, textile products, artificial jewelry are on sale at the exhibition. A group of more than 50 Pakistani businesspersons are exhibiting their products.
The weeklong expo was inaugurated by Himalaya Shamsher Rana, President, Nepal-Pakistan Friendship Association.
The single country Made in Pakistan Expo is being organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with a number of Pakistani business people who are exhibiting their products.
The event is expected to greatly help in introducing the Pakistani products to the Nepalese consumers and also provide a platform for interaction between the businessmen of two countries and thus enhance the volume of trade between the two countries.
In his inaugural speech, Himalaya Shamsher Rana, president of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship Association, said that connectivity and trade among the south Asian countries could forward the region to lasting peace and prosperity.
He also lauded the timing of the expo as the main festivals of Nepal such as Dashain and Tihar were around the corner.
Mazhar Javed, Pakistani ambassador to Nepal, expressed happiness over increasing bilateral trade between the two countries and said that physical constraints could be overcome by the will of the people and the businesspersons in the context of promoting overall relations between any two countries.
He said that the expo had a new slogan every year and that for this year the expo has the slogan of Made in Pakistan saarc edition.
The exhibition will remain open for the public till October 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 08:00 p.m.
