GC executive chairman stresses on redefining publications
Kathmandu, Oct. 10: Newly appointed Executive Chairman of Gorkhapatra Corporation (GC) Krishna Murari Bhandari has said that redefinition of GC’s every publication and its content is possible only with collective effort of all working journalists and employees.
“I‘m here to redefine the GC’s publications and its content and in this regard we need to work together,” Bhandari said while assuming his office on Wednesday at GC.
“The Gorkhapatra daily is a heritage of Nepali journalism in Nepal,” Executive Chairman Bhandari said. This heritage of journalism should be protected and give liveliness by all the working journalists here and the employees of GC, Bhandari said.
Every publication of GC should be first reach to public so that we can earn and gain redefining image of the publication, he said. I’m here to beautify the content and publications of GC settling all the differences and problems being faced by the employees and journalists.
“Working journalists of over 100 manpower who currently outside the Valley should be trained and made skilful which would help to change the definition and content of the publication,” the Executive Chairman said.
I’m here for people’s centric mission making the publication more readable and easily accessible to all quarters of people living far remote places of the country, Bhandari said.
“Gorkhapatra Daily and its other publications should be newspaper of over 30 million Nepalis,” he said. For this, the Corporation’s employees and journalists must give their best input from the respective sectors and positions, he added.
As every organisation’s blood line is its financial part, the executive chairman said financial discipline is the crucial part to run any other organisation effectively.
Coming to the point of GC’s circulations of its publication, Executive Chairman Bhandari said that circulations and its market strategy must be changed to see it in the market. “I even couldn’t get the GC’s any publication on time or early in the morning whereas other publications can be available early in the morning at our doorstep,” Bhandari said.
On the occasion, Acting director of GC Arjun Basnet said that he would be ready and available for 24 hours for the promotion and prosperity of the GC.
Acting Editor-in-Chief of The Rising Nepal Jagadish Pokharel welcoming the executive chairman urged for making the only and oldest English daily of Nepal to preserve its pride and glory developing better coordination between the administration and publication.
Pokharel was on view that The Rising Nepal would get new facelift during his tenure. The TRN and whole staff are in support of the chairman for the betterment of the publication, he said.
Similarly, other departmental chiefs including Gorkhapatra Daily editor Shree Om Shrestha, literary monthly magazine Madhupark, Muna, Yuvamanch, and trade union chairman Bishnu Khanal of GC also welcomed the new executive chairman and expressed their views to work in collaboration with new management.
