Benu Shrestha- accomplice on gold smuggling- brought to Biratnagar
Biratnagar, Oct 15: Benu Shrestha, one among those accused of smuggling 33 kgs of gold and murdering Sanam Shakya, has been brought here by the police.
Shrestha who was arrested in Dubai with the help of INTERPOL was brought here via Kathmandu on Monday evening.
Deputy Superintendent of Police at District Police Office, Morang, Ghanashyam Shrestha said Shrestha was currently in detention.
Benu had been assisting the gang of Chudamani Upreti (Gore) in gold smuggling by staying in Dubai.
After the gold was lost in the midway, the Gore's gang had tortured porter Sanam Shakya to death on March 2 early this year.
Work honestly: IGP Khanal
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Nepal Police, Sarbendra Khanal, has directed the subordinate police officials to work honestly with the exercise of rights provided by the law.
"No activities can be done against law," IGP Khanal said while inaugurating a barrack and detention section at the District Police Office in Chitwan on Monday.
He underscored the need to work honestly for the protection of human rights.
