Media should exert pressure on govt.: NC President Deuba
Dhangadhi, Jan 14: Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the media persons to exert pressure on government for the action against the criminals, saying criminal activities like murder and rape are on rise in the country.
At a news conference organised by Nepal Press Union here today, NC President Deuba said, "The government has been hiding the guilty of rape and murder case of Nirnala Panta of Kanchanpur. Media should exert pressure on government to take action against the guilty."
He clarified that the government led by him had not made any decision to purchase wide-body aircraft. The NC President said the erstwhile government led by KP Sharma Oli had forwarded the wide-body aircraft purchase process by forming a sub-committee and Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government had called for tender for the same.
Expressing sadness over the rumor linking his name in wide-body purchase scam, the main opposition party leader Deuba said, "Action should be taken against those involved in embezzlement in course of wide-body aircarft purchase."
He further said that the government led-by him had brought the Act in the past by holding talks with Prof Dr Govinda KC to make medical education qualitative and timely.
NC President Deuba objected to the incumbent government's act of trying to amend the medical act through ordinance.
