PM Oli meets former Swiss President, WEF meeting begins

By Special Correspondent Tirtha Prasad Bhattarai, Davos (Switzerland), Jan 22 (RSS): The 49th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) began here at the Davos Congress Centre this morning. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leading the Nepali delegation to the meeting. 

Welcoming the delegates including heads of state and government of various countries to the meeting, Swiss President Ueli Maurer said charting out the path to socio-economic prosperity amidst natural and man-made disasters facing the world today was a challenge before the Forum.

Also taking part in the plenary meeting are Foreign Minister Pradip Kumar Gyawali and Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada.

Later today, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to address a session entitled ‘Strategic Outlook on South Asia.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli met with former President of Switzerland Alain Berset at the sidelines of the 49th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) that began here this morning. 

During the meeting, matters relating to Nepal-Swiss relations and of mutual interest and concern were discussed. The two leaders also recalled the meeting that took place during the UN General Assembly in New York last September.
