Kathmandu, Apr. 23: Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Monday declared the completion of its party unification process after finalising the leadership in its 77 district committees.
NCP announced the names of all 77 district chairs and secretaries, which it had finalised on Sunday evening, by organising a programme in Kathmandu on the occasion of the 70th establishment day of the communist party.
The NCP had set standard criteria to select the district chairs and secretaries. However, only four women were accommodated in the 154 posts of the district leadership.
Three of them were given the responsibility of chairs and one was appointed secretary.
Ruku Chaulagain in Kavrepalanchok, Munu Sigdel in Makawanpur and Madhu Adhikari in Lamjung were given the responsibility of district chairs while Som Maya Rai was nominated for the post of secretary in Ilam.
When asked why only four women were picked in the leadership position, NCP leader Pampha Bhusal said that as the unification criteria did not entertain women leaders, only four women leaders were selected in the leadership posts.
