Locals get job in absence of bridge

Rukum (West), May 15: The absence of a bridge over the Thuli Bheri River may have hindered transportation; but it has served to provide the locals with an employment opportunity.
Around 163 locals of Aathbiskot Municipality have been earning their bread and butter by taking people and goods across the river on their boats.
“This has eliminated the need to go to India to find work,” said local Lali Sunar. Another local Shakti Bista said that they charged Rs. 4000 to Rs. 5000 to haul a truck of goods across the river.
“We all work together to move as much goods as possible across the Bheri river,” he said adding, “We split our earnings among ourselves at the end of the day.”
He informed that he earns Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000 a day.
