Media protest demanding payments
By Dhirendra Prasad Sah, Rajbiraj, May 16: Media people of Siraha and Saptari have started protesting to demand payments for various public service advertisements (PSA).
They claim they have not been paid for publishing and airing the PSAs for the past nine months and have hence, formed a 21-member struggle committee to demand payments.
Previously, the payments for these ads used to be made through Biratnagar's Communication Centre. But after federalisation, the payments for these two districts shifted to the Janakpur Post Office.
"The Communication Centre claims to have forwarded all the files to the post office," said coordinator of the struggle committee Shyam Kumar Yadav, "And the post office doesn't respond to our queries seriously."
"We have been requesting various authorities to look into the matter before last Dashain, but no one has taken us seriously," said president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Siraha, Dineshwore Gupta.
The struggle committee also submitted a memorandum to the Prime minister, Chief Minister, Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Federation of Nepali Journalists, Department of Information and the Press Council through the Chief District Officer on May 12.
