Panauti municipality distributes Boer goats to farmers
Kavre, May. 24: The Panauti Municipality has distributed goats of Boer breed to the farmers in subsidised price to make the municipality self-reliant in meat production.
The municipality distributed hybrid goats brought from Murkoti of Mandawi Rural Municipality, Pyuthan district, to the five farmers of the municipality on Thursday.
Chief of Livestock Department of Panauti Municipality Mani Prasad Sapkota said that the municipality distributed goats to the farmers providing 75 per cent subsidy through lucky draws.
According to him, the municipality has bought five goats at Rs. 286,700. The municipality brought goats from Pyuthan as the climate of Panauti matches Pyuthan climate.
Mayor Bhim Naupane, Deputy Mayor Gita Banjara, Senior Administration Officer Indra Prasad Adhikari and Ward Chairman distributed goats to the lucky winners.
According to the lucky draw results, Panchakanya Cooperatives of Rayale-1, received the he-goat worth Rs. 60,500, Khil Prasad Acharya of Kusawadebi Ward-2, Rs. 48,500, Bishnu Sapkota, Ward-6 Dalinchok Rs. 76,700, Devraj Kunwar, Ward- 9 Sunthan Rs. 49,500 and Balkrishna Humagain, Ward-12 Bhumidanda worth Rs. 51,500.
They paid 25 per cent of the price of the goats to the municipality.
Panauti Municipality has been providing allowances to the owners of the lactating buffaloes. The municipality has been providing Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 as incentives for preserving the buffaloes.
