Call for minimum wages for journalists
Rasuwa, May 27 : Office-bearers of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) interacted with journalists based in Rasuwa district in Dhunche, the district headquarters, on Sunday.
The interaction dwelt on the present situation of press freedom, the problems facing the journalism sector and resolution of the problems.
FNJ central chairperson Govinda Acharya and president of the Minimum Wage Determination Committee, Gangadhar Prajuli were present in the discussion.
On the occasion, the district-based journalists said there were still challenges in news gathering in the district due to its difficult geography and remoteness.
They also called for providing them with their minimum wages.
The representatives of political parties, civil society and teachers said that all journalists in the district were working committedly.
Participating journalists on the occasion placed their demand before Parajuli for taking initiatives for providing minimum wages to the journalists.
FNJ central chair Acharya expressed commitment that FNJ would always work for the welfare of the journalists and urged the journalists to continuously write so as to leaverage the national motto of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'.
