577 cases of divorce in 10 months in Makwanpur
Hetauda, July 3: A total of 577 divorce cases were registered in the Makwanpur District Court in the first 10th months of current fiscal year.
Of them, 135 were filed by male, according to court’s registrar Keshab Kumar Kaushik.
It may be noted that the existing National Code that has been in force since Bhadra 1 2075 BS (August 17, 2018) has provisions allowing husbands to straightly seek the legal dissolution of a marriage.
The number of total divorce cases registered in the court last fiscal year was 475 while this figure had already reached 567 till the first 10th month and of them, 194 had been already settled. Family misunderstanding and increasing longing for material comforts are seen as apparent causes behind the most divorce cases, said intellectual Ram Prasad Acharya.
