Government pensioners protest proposed cut-off of festival allowance

Kathmandu, July 10: The government former employees receiving a pension have urged the government not to cut off the facility. Nepal National Retired Employees Association, through a press note today, asked the government not to deprive the retired employees of such allowance, citing that it could dampen the spirit of the entire employees.

The Association insisted the need of continuing the facility to boost up morale of employees.

Association chair Gehendraman Amatya asserted that the contributions of former employees could not be overlooked under any circumstances. It may be noted that the issue of cutting off festival allowance for retired employees was discussed during the deliberations on the bill related to the Federal Civil Service Employees in the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee,

House of Representatives today. The retired employees presently receive the amount equivalent to the pension of one moth as the Dashain allowance.
