Death toll reaches 60, 38 missing, 26 injured in water-induced disasters

Kathmandu, July 14: Death toll has reached 60 across the country due to floods and landslides caused by the monsoon rains that began on Thursday night, according to the update by the Nepal Police today.

According to the Nepal Police, 24 females and 36 males were killed in the natural disasters occurred in various parts of the country. The Police said 38 persons were injured while 26 werre still missing.

Landslide and flood claimed lives of 17 persons in State 1, 7 persons in State 2, 12 persons in State 3, two each in State 5 and Karnali State. Eight persons died in two districts in the Kathmandu Valley.

Altogether 26 people were reported injured as of today morning- five in the Kathmandu Valley, 8 in State 1 and 12 in State 3. The injured ones have been receiving treatment in the nearest health facilities of their respective places.

A total of 38 people were reported missing, one each in Kathmandu and Lalitpur, Paanchthar, Jhapa, Udayapur, Sunsari, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Siraha , Dhading and Dhausha; three each in Ilam and Morang; six in Sindhuli and 11 in Dolpa district.

The rescue teams of the security forces have rescued 1,444 persons so far while the human resources and equipment from police offices have been mobilized for search and rescue operations in the disaster affected areas.
