Ministers attending the the presentation of annual action plan for fiscal year 2019/20 and implementation agreement signing programme organised at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, July 31, 2019.

"We started the tradition of passing the budget within June by bringing it (in parliament) by Jeth 15 (May-end) with the thinking that we can start development works from the beginning of Nepali month Saun (mid-July). We should not repeat the bad practice of the past of signing the contract towards February-end due to the delay in passing budget because by the time the contracts are awarded the monsoon sets in. We should not do this anymore. Do not waste time," he said.

On the occasion, Prime Minister also expressed the belief that works would speeded up now that the ministers have signed action plan implementation agreement with him. "Performance agreements have been reached between me and the ministers. I believe the pace of work will take a momentum after such agreement is reached between the ministers and the secretaries," he added.

PM Oli said the government has cracked down against the people involved in corruption in an unprecedented manner. "Cases have been forwarded against the corrupt people and action has been moved forward firmly," he further said.

Stating that sometimes oppositions in the parliament engaged in creating unnecessary hurdles, the Prime Minister said, "Any attempt to bar us and make us failure will not be accepted and the government is committed to safeguarding democracy and operating it well."

He went on to say that the people had decided to choose a majority government for stability at home and the present government would move ahead being responsible to the people.

All ministers present in the meeting signed on the agreement in regard with the implementation of action plans, according to Prime Minister's Press Advisor Kundan Aryal.

The same sort of agreements/commitments will be made by government secretaries as well. "The culture of this kind of agreement has begun for the first time in Nepal's history and this is expected to contribute to the acceleration of development activities," he said.
