Nepalgunj a city of religious amity: Minister Rai
Nepalgunj Aug 12: Minister for Urban Development Mohammad Ishtiyak Rai has said that Nepalgunj has been successful in establishing itself as a city of religious amity.
“The unity and goodwill between the Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians has set an example throughout the world,” said Rai.
Addressing the people after Namaj, on the occasion of Eid-Al- Adha, Minister Rai said that the unity, friendliness and goodwill between the residents of the city were the reasons behind thriving development activities in Nepalgunj.
The society, leaders of various political parties and religious forerunners have given respect to each other’s religion and have been celebrating each other’s festivals together. This is the reason behind the strong unity among the people, despite religious diversity, said Rai.
Minister Rai had come to Nepalgunj, his hometown, to celebrate the second biggest festival of the Muslim community. he also appealed everyone to start working to make Nepalgunj an exemplary city of the nation.
Meanwhile, the festival of Eid-Al-Adha also known as Bakra Eid, is being celebrated with much fanfare and gaiety. On the first day of the three-day festival, collective Namaj was organised in the Eid Gah at B.P. chowk.
After reading Namaz in Eid Gah, the Muslims have carried out the ritual of “kurbani”, or sacrificing animals to the Allah. The Muslims bought goats, sheep, and buffaloes in large number for the purpose of performing kurbani.
