Actress Adhikari cremated
Kathmandu, Aug. 18: Senior actress Shubhadra Adhikari was paid last respect at Pashupati electric crematory in the presence of several film and theatre artistes Saturday evening.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai also paid tribute to actress Adhikari reaching the crematorium.
Popular actress Adhikari passed away Saturday morning at her Dallu-based residence. She was 73. The popular actress had been suffering from asthma.
Born in 1946 as a daughter of singer Nura Devi, Adhikari took a career of theatre actress first and later joined the big screen.
Some of her popular plays include Bhakta Pralhad, Buhartan, Nalapani and Palasko Phool.
Manako Bandh directed by late Prakash Thapa marked her debut as a movie actress. She remained active in both big and silver screens for over four decades doing dozens movies. She mostly did the role a mother in Nepali movies.
Chino, Kanyadan, Basudev, Basanti, Bhauju, Behuli, Swarga and Munamadan are some of her films which will always remind the Nepali audience of late Adhikari.
She is survived by a son and a daughter.
