Regular lives of public in Central Terai hit due to alliance's strike
Birgunj, July 21: Normal life of the people across various places in the Central Terai has been adversely affected due to the strike called by the Unified Madheshi Alliance today.
The strike has been enforced in protest of what they called police's excessive use of force against the cadres of the Alliance yesterday during the public feedback collection.
The vehicles of the both long and short routes to and from Kalaiya in Bara, Birgunj in Parsa and Gaur in Rautahat are not plying after the strike. However, private vehicles, rickshaw, bullock cart and the like are operating.
The cadres, fluttering the flag of their respective political parties, have been gathering in Birgunj, Kalaiya and Gaur market to bring the regular activities to the grinding halt.
The main markets have remained shut though a few retail shops in various alleys are open. Due to the strike, educational institutes, markets, shops and factories have also remained closed.
Security personnel have been deployed in various places in bulk in view of untoward activities during the strike.
Although the normal life of the people have been thrown out of gear, no unfavorable activities have been reported yet, according to the Zonal Police Office, Narayani, Birgunj.
The Alliance comprises Sanghiya Samajbadi Party, Terai Madhesh Lokatantrik Party, Sadbhawana Party and Terai Madhesh Sadbhawana Party.
