District headquarters without public toilet
Dailekh, July 25: Dailekh district was declared open defecation free some two months ago but surprisingly the district headquarters—Dailekh bazaar does not have a public toilet.
As a result, people coming from across the district to the headquarters for office-related work face difficulty. Even the government offices they visit have toilets locked up due to scarcity of water.
As a result they are forced to rush toward the local tundikhel or open ground, the Gadhi and Kandachaur area for answering the nature’s call. Interestingly, the 36 VDCs of Dailekh, who have been declared ODF, have public toilets in convenient locations. And people from those VDCs are caught by surprise when they do not find one in the district headquarters.
Meanwhile, executive officer at Narayan Municipality Ganesh Bikram Shah says that construction of public toilets could begin this year in the district headquarters as finding a suitable location is in the final stage. RSS
