'Proper utilization of forest paves way for prosperity'
Kathmandu, Sept 6: Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Mahesh Acharya has said that the proper and skillful utilization of forest and forest production may pave the way for prosperity.
Speaking in a meeting of the Environment Conservation Committee under the Legislature-Parliament today, Minister Aharya informed that the Ministry was highly prioritizing to maintain good governance in forest administration for the same. Talking in the meeting, Minister Acharya said that the Ministry was prioritizing to launch sapling plantation programmes with the involvement of people.
The Ministry has further developed new evaluation procedure to evaluate the district forest officers targeting to effectively run the forest conservation projects, Minister Acharay added.
The government has carried out an ambitious project of managing 40,000 hectares of forest in the current fiscal year and the government was planning to use local forest production while launching the infrastructure development projects in the country.
Similarly, lawmakers had paid serious concern over the misuse of forest, random cut down of trees, smuggling of forest production in the name of scientific management of the forest, construction of fast track, railway among others.
The government has finally introduced the revised Constitution of Nepal (Second Amendment) Bill 2074 to the parliament.
