'Constitution writing process to fruition at any cost'
Kathmandu, Sept. 13: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has expressed the commitment to make the ongoing process of drafting the new constitution through the people’s representative successful at any cost.
Speaking at today’s meeting of the Constituent Assembly, he said the constitution making process has entered the phase of institutionalizing the achievements made through big sacrifices in the past 65 years and to empower the people. “The CA that stands as an inseparable part of the peace process stands on the verge of promulgating the new constitution”, he said.
Efforts are being made to stop the new constitution from being promulgated from the second CA as well, he said and added that we the political parties must foil them to promote our history and significance of our sacrifices.
The movement in western Nepal by the Tharu community and the Madhesis in the Tarai is a concern of loosing identity and rights, he said while expressing concern over both the State suppression as well as acts of killing an injured police personnel after snatching him out of an ambulance.
Referring to the statements made by some Madhesh-centric leaders about the need of a separate state for Tarai Madhesh, the former Prime Minister said that would self-destructive and anti-nationalist thought. “The Madhesi community has big contribution in the making of Kathmandu and hence they should claim their share and rights here, not separate themselves from it”, he added.
