Nepalis in US welcome new constitution
California (USA), Sept 19: Nepalis living in the USA have welcomed the endorsement of Constitution of Nepal, 2072.
The new constitution was approved by the two-thirds majority of the Constituent assembly (CA) on Wednesday and would be promulgated on Sunday by President Dr Ram Baran Yadav amid a special function at the CA.
Earlier, the CA chair Subas Nembang on Friday authenticated the new constitution after a total of 537 lawmakers out of 598 lawmakers in the CA signed the constitution Friday itself.
With the approval of the new constitution, Nepalis living in the USA are excited as promulgating the constitution through the CA was a long-awaited dream of Nepalis.
The Nepalis Liaison Committee Chair Aananda Bista welcomed the constitution as the new constitution has partly addressed their issues.
Likewise, Chair of Prabasi Nepali Forum Sanjaya Thapa welcomed the constitution and termed it as the democratic. He further said that they would organize the candle lighting programme on the occasion of the promulgation of new constitution.
Similarly, Chairman of Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) USA Dr Keshav Poudel, Chairman of Nepal-USA Journalist Association Gautam Dahal, Acting President of USA-Nepal Chamber of Commerce Sanu Babu Dahal and others welcomed the constitution and exchanged their happiness. They further expressed their confidence that the genuine demands of the disgruntled forces would be incorporated through amendment as it was a democratic constitution.
